Event information
This is an training event for professionals working in schools in the Bi-borough (Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster City Council).
The course will cover moving and handling legislation, including MHOR 1992 and LOLER 1998, along with employer and employee responsibilities and safeguarding considerations related to the moving and handling of children. It will address supported transfers and mobility, such as fall risks for young children and how to safely assist them off the floor if necessary.
Participants will learn about:
- Moving & Handling legislation, employer & employee responsibilities and safeguarding considerations
- Use of hoists and person handling slings
- Supporting dependent students with bed mobility/pad changing, toileting tasks
- Supporting wheelchair users safely
- Supported mobility, various other transfer aids
- Risk assessment
- Prevention of staff injury with a focus on back care and strategies to protect staff
